Es difícil pensar en faldas cortas, mujeres muy arregladas, lujosos carros y muchos colores cuando pensamos en Afganistán. Pero, ¿por qué pasa eso? ¿Es por estereotipos o falta de información? Nos cuesta imaginarnos un Afganistán así porque las cosas han cambiado y hoy, el lugar se ve muy distinto a como se veía en los años 60′. Después de que los soviéticos los invadieran, los talibanes dominaran y los estadounidenses los invadieran de nuevo en 2001, este rincón del mundo nunca volvió a ser lo que era antes.
En 1967, el profesor estadounidense Dr. Bill Podlich llegó a Afganistán para trabajar con la UNESCO durante dos años. En este tiempo sirvió como experto de los Principios de la Educación en la Universidad Superior de Profesores en Kabul y aprovechó su estadía para fotografiar la vida en esos tiempos. Sus imágenes son el reflejo de aquello que ya no vemos: paz, prosperidad, libertad.
